Admission Requirements

Undergraduate program:

1. Applicants should have sufficient Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They are required to provide a Chinese proficiency certificate (intermediate level or above of TOCFL or New HSK), a self-hand-written autobiography in Chinese and a certificate of Chinese language classes for at least a year.
2. Applicants from non-native Chinese or non-native English speaking countries are suggested to provide an English proficiency certificate, such as TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS. Applicants from English-speaking country such as Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa or the United States of America, or those who have studied and obtained previous degrees in these countries can provide the certified documents or diploma instead of the English proficiency certificates. 
 
Master program:
1. Applicants should have sufficient Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They are required to provide a Chinese proficiency certificate (intermediate level or above of TOCFL or New HSK), a self-hand-written autobiography in Chinese and a certificate of Chinese language classes for at least a year.
2. Applicants from non-native Chinese or non-native English speaking countries are suggested to provide an English proficiency certificate, such as TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS. 3. Applicants should visit the department website and contact the professors that could be their potential advisors.
 
Ph.D. program:
1. Applicants are required to provide their college and graduate transcripts, a copy of their Master’s thesis, and other relevant academic publications if available.
2. Applicants from non-native Chinese or non-native English speaking countries should have sufficient English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They are required to provide an English proficiency certificate (such as IELTS 5.5/ TOEFL ITP 543/ TOEFL iBT 72/ TOEIC 750 or above). Applicants from English-speaking country such as Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa or the United States of America, or those who have studied and obtained previous degrees in these countries can provide the certified documents or diploma instead of the English proficiency certificates.
3. Applicants should visit the department website and contact the professors that could be their potential advisors.
